Who They Are

Self Reliance Foundation is a nonprofit organization created in 1979 to empower disadvantaged populations by disseminating practical educational information and facilitating access to community services.

What They Do

In pursuit of its mission, SRF created the National Hispanic Resource Helpline, which serves Latinos throughout the United States and Puerto Rico. In collaboration with the Hispanic Radio Network, SRF also develops and oversees the distribution of Spanish-language radio and print educational materials to Latino communities. In addition to these national social marketing campaigns, SRF has developed grassroots outreach projects creating community coalitions that coordinate events at Latino festivals, bringing science and math educational activities to kids and families, hence Celebra la Ciencia.

How They Do It

SRF reaches out to Latino parents, children, and educators who serve Latino children.

How ¡Soy Unica! ¡Soy Latina! Helped

SRF provides parents and kids with quality, bilingual materials that are educational. They love these materials since these types of materials are hard to come by, families are overjoyed to learn they are free to take home with them.
