Identity, Inc. Positive Youth Development Program

Their Mission

Identity's mission is to prepare the next generation of Latino leaders through strategic, sustainable, and culturally competent youth initiatives and through outreach dealing with education, healthcare, and empowerment.

What They Do

Identity is a community-based organization that works with Latino youth in Washington, DC and Montgomery County, MD. We provide after-school and during-school programs in English and Spanish. Identity's program deals with leadership development and life skills-building.

How They Do It

Identity works with youth to help them develop leadership potential. The comprehensive program helps develop skills that will assist them in a smoother transition into adulthood. We incorporate parents into the program and offer communication and parenting skills-building sessions for them. The sessions are conducted in Spanish and help the parents better understand the developmental stages of their children and improve parent-child communication.

Latino youth use the ¡Soy Unica! ¡Soy Latina! Web site at Identity. This interactive site provides young girls with a safe, interesting, and educational activity after school.
